About this Event:

This is a Hunters Education Field Day. This class is for students who have either received a voucher that they have successfully completed the online Hunters Ed class prior to the date of the class. The student MUST PRESENT the ONLINE VOUCHER PRIOR to the beginning of class in order to participate in this event. If you need an online class and have NOT completed one yet you can go to https://www.hunter-ed.com/michigan to register and take the online class (there is a fee of 28.95 for the online class). There is NO FEE FOR THE FIELD DAY CLASS.

The field day will consist of classroom instruction and practical field exercises including: Firearm function; Field of fire; Situational carry; Crossing obstacles: Safety; Ethics and an overview of Michigan hunting laws.
DO NOT BRING ANY PERSONAL FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION.
This class will include both indoor and outdoor activities. Please dress for the weather which may include rain.
Requested items to bring with you: (1) Something to drink and snacks if you need them. We will have breaks throughout the day as well, (2) A pencil with an eraser (for notes and the test)
Students should arrive at 8:15am to complete the necessary paperwork and receive an introduction. For all students 10 years of age and younger a parent or guardian must remain with the student for the duration of the class. Parents or guardians of students 11 and above are also invited to stay for the class but we would request that they stay with their student until all personal information for the student is checked for accuracy. If it is not accurate modifications can be made on site by the Parent or Guardian. Field Day Class instruction: 9:00am - 4:00pm Hunter Safety Certificates “Orange cards” will be issued upon successful completion of class.

About the Program

Overview:

The main purpose of the hunter education field day course is to provide an alternative to the traditional course. This course is the same as the traditional hunter education course; however, the classroom portion is completed by either, online training or as a take home study format. 
In order to purchase a hunting license in Michigan, an individual born on or after January 1, 1960, is required to successfully complete an approved hunter education course. There are two different formats for successfully completing the field day course. Students must take either, the online course or the take home study, then complete the field day in order to earn a hunter safety certificate. Students choosing the online course followed by the field day must present a copy of their certificate of completion (voucher) of the online course at the start of the field day.  The certificate of completion (voucher) of the online course is valid for 12 months from the completion date.  The online course is fee based and can be taken at https://www.hunter-ed.com/michigan/. The second format is take home study. Students register for the field day and pick up the student manual, a minimum of one week prior to the field day. Take home study students must complete the chapter review questions and present them at the start of the field day. Michigan’s hunter education course is taught by a dedicated core of certified volunteer instructors and Michigan conservation officers.
