About this Event:

Upon successful completion of this class students will receive both the hunter and bow hunter safety certificates. This class is FREE!! Students will need to come to Hall's Bait Shop located at 15573 US HWY 12, UNION, MI to pick up class material prior to the class in order to complete the review questions as well as study. Students will need to bring a copy of their birth certificate and/or ID to verify birthdate. If you are a student who completed the classroom portion online and are in need of a field day only, you will need to be there all-day Saturday and you will need to bring a copy of the certificate of completion along with you as well. You will also be required to take and pass the written test in order to participate in the field day. This class is FREE!! Please contact Megan Hall at 269-641-2304 or hallmegan14@yahoo.com with any questions, concerns, or special requests. DO NOT BRING GUNS, AMMUNITION, OR BOWS. We will provide all of that. We will provide water and lunch on Saturday. Students are encouraged to bring their own drinks and any snack foods they want! You can even bring your own dinner on Friday evening. We will also provide all classroom materials such as pens, pencils, highlighters, etc..
We will also hopefully have a DNR officer on site on one of the days to talk about rules and regulations pertaining to hunting only! so come prepared with any questions you may have for the law. Also, be dressed to go outside on Saturday, no matter the weather.

About the Program

Overview:

This course is a combination of the traditional hunter education and the traditional bow hunter education courses. Students will receive both hunter education certification and bow hunter education certification. The main purpose of the combination course is to provide a convenient option for students wanting both courses. Topics covered include understanding wildlife management, wildlife identification, ethics, laws and regulations, firearms safety and handling, bow hunting techniques, archery equipment, and tree stand safety. 
In order to purchase a hunting license in Michigan, an individual born on or after January 1, 1960, is required to successfully complete an approved hunter education course. Michigan’s combination course is taught by a dedicated core of certified volunteer instructors and Michigan conservation officers. 

About the Class: 
  • In person, traditional classroom setting including hands on training 
  • Minimum of 16 hours over a minimum of two days 
  • Written test (80% or better to pass) and practice assessment (pass/fail) 
  • Maximum $10 fee 
  • No minimum age requirement; however, students under 10 years of age shall be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or other adult approved by parent or legal guardian.
