About this Event:
This will be a 4 hour Field day event at Roscommon Baptist Church and we will start inside with 2 classes
1. importance of Hunter Safety and Ethics and responsibilities
2. The six laws of hunter safety
We will then go outside, break up in small groups and cover safe firearm handling 1. Crossing a fence, zone of fire, hunting with others in the field and in a boat.
Each group will then do 2 hours of range time rotating between rifle shooting, crossbow shooting and archery shooting. Students will have to demonstrate safe firearm and bow handling, courtesy on the ranges with instructors and fellow students, and willingness to participate.
We will then go indoors and do the written test for the completion of the class (Students with reading or comprehension challenges can have an instructor read the test to them)
Our goal is to train Safe, Knowledgeable and ethical hunters so we have expectations.
1. Students will be dressed for the weather (jeans and long sleave over t-shirts are fine), with shoes that are fit for outdoors (Not flip flops or sandals)
2. Students will be courteous to each other and instructors. Raising their hands if they have a question or when answering one.
3. Be there by 7:45 am We will need to check you in and get you a name tag (Juice, coffee and breakfast muffins will be available)
4 We as instructors will do our best to prepare you for the test. We will be courteous to all students and our intention is to get you your orange card before you leave the building.
5. Our Instructors are volunteers and look forward to you carrying forward the great tradition of hunting in our state and country.
