About this Event:

This FIELD DAY class is Sunday afternoon for ½ day.       It will be taught by 10 or more trained certified hunter education volunteer instructors.     This FIELD DAY class is for students who have completed the ONLINE HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE.     At check-in, the online course certificate (paper or phone picture) must be presented.     You will be retaking the test in class.     It is not the same as the online test.    At completion you will receive your orange hunter education certificate card that is also good for out of state hunting.    This card can be taken to any location where hunting licenses are sold to purchase a license.      You will also be added to the state’s E-license database and be able to buy your Michigan license on-line.     Allow one to two weeks from class completion for an E-license.

About the Program

Overview:

The main purpose of the hunter education field day course is to provide an alternative to the traditional course. This course is the same as the traditional hunter education course; however, the classroom portion is completed by either, online training or as a take home study format.

How do I register my child for a class if they do not have an email address?  It is very common that the student looking to register for a class does not have an email of their own. To solve this predicament, we created a process called "Linking Accounts". By creating an account of your own and "linking" the student to that account, you now have the option to sign them up for a class with your own email. All communication about the event will be sent over to you making it easy to keep track of things.  Steps to create a linked account.
In order to purchase a hunting license in Michigan, an individual born on or after January 1, 1960, is required to successfully complete an approved hunter education course. There are two different formats for successfully completing the field day course. Students must take either, the online course or the take home study, then complete the field day in order to earn a hunter safety certificate. Students choosing the online course followed by the field day must present a copy of their certificate of completion (voucher) of the online course at the start of the field day.  The certificate of completion (voucher) of the online course is valid for 12 months from the completion date.  The online course is fee based and can be taken at https://www.hunter-ed.com/michigan/. The second format is take home study. Students register for the field day and pick up the student manual, a minimum of one week prior to the field day. Take home study students must complete the chapter review questions and present them at the start of the field day. Michigan’s hunter education course is taught by a dedicated core of certified volunteer instructors and Michigan conservation officers.
