About this Event:
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Allegan County Sheriff Department will host a one day in person class on Snowmobile Safety at the Allegan County Snowmobile & ORV Association located at: 1697 36th Street Allegan, MI 49010. The class is offered free of charge. You must register for the class ahead of time as space is limited. Please register early to reserve your seat. In this class, you will learn safe and responsible off-road vehicle operation in a classroom setting. An ORV Safety Certificate is required for all operators under 16 years of age. There is not a minimum age for enrollment, but attendees will need to be able to read, comprehend, and successfully pass a written test to receive a Safety Certificate. Although, not required by Michigan law, adults are allowed to take the course. The class will run from 9am to 2pm with a break for lunch. Please bring your own sack lunch. Class material will be provided at the start of the class. Students will not be riding Snowmobiles. For questions or concerns about the class, please contact: Deputy Long dlong@allegancounty.org

Overview:
The main purpose of the snowmobile safety education course is to educate and develop safe, knowledgeable and responsible snowmobile owners and operators. Topics covered include description of machine controls, safety and operating procedures, loading and towing procedures, understanding trail operation, laws and regulations, and environmental concerns and reporting responsibility.

To solve this predicament, we created a process called "Linking Accounts". By creating an account of your own and "linking" the student to that account, you now have the option to sign them up for a class with your own email. Any snowmobile operator 12 to 16 years old are required to pass an approved snowmobile safety course to operate without adult supervision or to cross a roadway.
