This is a one day FIELD DAY to complete the post requirements after the online hunter's safety training has been completed. The on-line portion MUST be completed prior to participating in this field day event. Each student must present a copy of their certificate of completion (voucher) of the online course at the start of the Saturday field day. The certificate of completion (voucher) of the online course is valid for 12 months from the completion date. The online course is fee based and can be taken at https://www.hunter-ed.com/michigan/.
How do I register my child for a class if they do not have an email address? It is very common that the student looking to register for a class does not have an email of their own. To solve this predicament, we created a process called "Linking Accounts". By creating an account of your own and "linking" the student to that account, you now have the option to sign them up for a class with your own email. All communication about the event will be sent over to you making it easy to keep track of things. Steps to create a linked account.
The second format is to take the home study. Students register for the course and pick up the student manual, prior to the field day at D&R Sports. Take home study students must complete all the chapter review questions and present them at the start of the Saturday field day.
Sign in begins at 09:30 am with class beginning at 10:00 a.m. SHARP. We will go over some of the Michigan hunting regulations and other practical knowledge and experience. There will be a practical portion of the class where you will have to demonstrate safe handling of a firearm successfully. There will be no live fire due to the abbreviated class time and weather.
There will be a review for the State of Michigan multiple choice 50 question test before it is given. You must pass this test with 80% required to qualify for your hunter safety certificate.
There will be around 40 students so please arrive at 09:30 AM to allow for check in time. Parents are welcome to attend and sit with the student and do not have to enroll if they are not taking the test and certification.
