About this Event:
Romeo - Washington - Bruce Parks and Recreation is hosting a 2 day Boater safety Class on April 28th and 29th, from 5pm to 9pm each day. The class will be held at the Romeo Community Center, 361 Morton St, Romeo 48068.
ATTENDANCE: Students MUST attend both days to receive boater safety card. Class is open to the general public and free of charge. The Sheriff's Office will supply pens, pencils, highlighters and course books. - **Class begins PROMPTLY at 5pm** -
With this being an evening class, you may bring dinner with you to enjoy during class.
CANELLATION POLICY **If you decide at a later time that you are not going to attend the course, please cancel your enrollment so that others on the waitlist can attend the course**
CHILD POLICY: Please read the following in its entirety! We welcome young students for our class, but children under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by parent or legal guardian. Students over the age of 16 MUST have the legal ability to drive a vehicle they are bringing to and from class or be accompanied by a responsible party who can drive a vehicle and will be present for the duration of both classes. DO NOT DROP YOUR CHILD OFF.

Overview:
The main purpose of the boater safety education course is to train knowledgeable, safe and responsible boaters. Topics covered include general boating and water safety, navigational rules, causes and prevention of crashes, operation and fueling techniques, environmental concerns and reporting responsibility.
How do I register my child for a class if they do not have an email address? It is very common that the student looking to register for a class does not have an email of their own. To solve this predicament, we created a process called "Linking Accounts". By creating an account of your own and "linking" the student to that account, you now have the option to sign them up for a class with your own email. Any motorized boat operator born after June 30, 1996, is required by law to pass an approved boater safety course and to carry a boater safety certificate. In addition, boater education is also required for all PWC operators born after December 31, 1978. Michigan’s boater education course is taught by a dedicated core of certified volunteer instructors, sheriff’s deputies and Michigan conservation officers.
