About this Event:
Cost for this class is $10 Due on the FIRST night of class! Classroom portion begins on Monday April 20 at 6 PM sharp. PLEASE arrive 15 minutes early on the 1st night and parents are asked to stay for the first 10 minutes of orientation. Class continues Wednesday April 22 at 6 PM. RANGE DAY is Sunday April 26. Depending on class size, RANGE DAY Is divided up into groups taking approximately 1 hour. RANGE DAY groups will begin around 10AM with groups being 1 hour apart. Last night of classroom with final written test is Monday April 27 @6 PM. ATTENDANCE AT ALL 4 DAYS IS MANDATORY PER DNR! Children under 10 years are required to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. The main purpose of the hunter education course is to train safe, legal and responsible hunters. Topics covered include understanding wildlife management, wildlife identification, ethics, laws and regulations, and firearms safety and handling.

In order to purchase a hunting license in Michigan, an individual born on or after January 1, 1960, is required to successfully complete an approved hunter education course. Michigan’s traditional hunter education course is taught by a dedicated core of certified volunteer instructors and Michigan conservation officers.

- In person, traditional classroom setting including hands on training.
- Minimum of 10 hours over a minimum of two days.
- Written test (80% or better to pass) and practice assessment (pass/fail).
- Maximum $10 fee.
- No minimum age requirement; however, students under 10 years of age shall be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or other adult approved by parent or legal guardian.
