About this Event:
This 3 day course offers traditional classroom instruction on Tuesday night and Thursday night. Saturday will comprise of a review of the material, the required field day, and the course test. Ending time for Saturday's class may be earlier than 4:00 pm; it just depends on the individual class. Hunter Safety Certificates will be issued upon successful completion. The field day will be for only the traditional classroom students. (Sorry no online students allowed for the 'field day only' on Saturday). Parents you are welcomed and encouraged to join your student - no additional class fee or signup necessary, unless you are also taking the class to obtain your own hunter safety certificate. The course fee will be $10. (Sorry, cash or check only/no credit or debit cards. Please make checks payable to Red Flannel Rod & Gun Club). Fee for the course is due on Tuesday, the first day of class.

The main purpose of the hunter education course is to train safe, legal and responsible hunters. Topics covered include understanding wildlife management, wildlife identification, ethics, laws and regulations, and firearms safety and handling.

In order to purchase a hunting license in Michigan, an individual born on or after January 1, 1960, is required to successfully complete an approved hunter education course. Michigan’s traditional hunter education course is taught by a dedicated core of certified volunteer instructors and Michigan conservation officers.

- In person, traditional classroom setting including hands on training.
- Minimum of 10 hours over a minimum of two days.
- Written test (80% or better to pass) and practice assessment (pass/fail).
- Maximum $10 fee.
- No minimum age requirement; however, students under 10 years of age shall be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or other adult approved by parent or legal guardian.
