About this Event:
Hosted at Great Lakes Sports & Rec Club (5211 19th Ave. N, Escanaba, MI). All materials will be provided. Sign up now! You may call Kalkomey at 1-800-684-9541 for help registering, or Audra at 906-295-0654 with other questions. This a 2 day course, you must attend both days, home study and internet course certificate WILL NOT be accepted. Bring a pen/pencil. Lunch will be provided to students both days. If you have special dietary concerns, please bring your own. All persons under 18 years of age must have a release of indemnity signed by a parent/guardian prior to the 2nd day/field day (this will be provided on the first day to be brought home and signed). Students under the age of 10 must be accompanied by one parent/guardian (parent/guardian does not need to register). No walk ins will be accepted. This is free.

The main purpose of the hunter education course is to train safe, legal and responsible hunters. Topics covered include understanding wildlife management, wildlife identification, ethics, laws and regulations, and firearms safety and handling.

In order to purchase a hunting license in Michigan, an individual born on or after January 1, 1960, is required to successfully complete an approved hunter education course. Michigan’s traditional hunter education course is taught by a dedicated core of certified volunteer instructors and Michigan conservation officers.

- In person, traditional classroom setting including hands on training.
- Minimum of 10 hours over a minimum of two days.
- Written test (80% or better to pass) and practice assessment (pass/fail).
- Maximum $10 fee.
- No minimum age requirement; however, students under 10 years of age shall be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or other adult approved by parent or legal guardian.
