About this Event:
St. Clair Shores Fire Department and the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division is hosting a 2 day Boater safety Class on June 17th and 18th, from 5pm to 9pm each day. The class will be held at the New St. Clair Shores Fire Station 1 located at 26700, Harper Ave. MI 48081.
ATTENDANCE: Students MUST attend both days to receive boater safety card. Class is open to the general public and free of charge. The Sheriff's Office will supply pens, pencils, highlighters and course books. - **Class begins PROMPTLY at 5pm** -
With this being an evening class, you may bring dinner with you to enjoy during class.
CANELLATION POLICY **If you decide at a later time that you are not going to attend the course, please cancel your enrollment so that others on the waitlist can attend the course**

Overview:
The main purpose of the boater safety education course is to train knowledgeable, safe and responsible boaters. Topics covered include general boating and water safety, navigational rules, causes and prevention of crashes, operation and fueling techniques, environmental concerns and reporting responsibility.

By creating an account of your own and "linking" the student to that account, you now have the option to sign them up for a class with your own email. Any motorized boat operator born after June 30, 1996, is required by law to pass an approved boater safety course and to carry a boater safety certificate. In addition, boater education is also required for all PWC operators born after December 31, 1978. Michigan’s boater education course is taught by a dedicated core of certified volunteer instructors, sheriff’s deputies and Michigan conservation officers.
