About this Event:

This is the full traditional Hunters Safety Class, complete with Range Day.  Students must be present for all 4 evenings to get credit for class, no exceptions.  As much of course content is outside, dress for weather.   If you are a parent bringing student(s), you are welcome to sit through class with your student.  For students under the age of 10, we ask that you certainly do stay with your child.   There is no cost for this class; all classroom and shooting range supplies are provided.  Do not bring any firearms or ammunition to class.  All you need is your positive attitude and attention.

About the Program

Overview:

The main purpose of the hunter education course is to train safe, legal and responsible hunters. Topics covered include understanding wildlife management, wildlife identification, ethics, laws and regulations, and firearms safety and handling.

How do I register my child for a class if they do not have an email address?  It is very common that the student looking to register for a class does not have an email of their own. To solve this predicament, we created a process called "Linking Accounts". By creating an account of your own and "linking" the student to that account, you now have the option to sign them up for a class with your own email. All communication about the event will be sent over to you making it easy to keep track of things.  Steps to create a linked account.
In order to purchase a hunting license in Michigan, an individual born on or after January 1, 1960, is required to successfully complete an approved hunter education course. Michigan’s traditional hunter education course is taught by a dedicated core of certified volunteer instructors and Michigan conservation officers.

About the Class:
  • In person, traditional classroom setting including hands on training.
  • Minimum of 10 hours over a minimum of two days.
  • Written test (80% or better to pass) and practice assessment (pass/fail).
  • Maximum $10 fee.
  • No minimum age requirement; however, students under 10 years of age shall be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or other adult approved by parent or legal guardian.
